Thin places are known in Celtic mythology as the places where the veil between the living and dead is at its thinnest. This allows the souls of the dead to be felt, on the cusp of being present in the material world. These spots have a mournful calmness to them, as the lines that separate the sea from the sky or the light from shadow become hazy.
